Webinar: Inclusive Agriculture

Across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, agricultural insurance has been one of the core focus areas for inclusive insurance. This is large because agriculture remains the main source of income and livelihood for the majority of households living in rural areas. However, natural disasters like floods and droughts have been threatening the performance of the agricultural sector globally placing smallholder farmers at the edge of the poverty trap. Climate change is worsening the situation and demanding effective risk mitigation options for smallholder farmers.

TAG partnered with Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR) and FinProbity Solutions to co-host a webinar on Inclusive Agriculture which was held on 28th September 2021. This event was supported by FSD Zambia, Microinsurance Network, and Munich Re Foundation and brought together international and regional experts who exchanged views, experiences, and perspectives on how to get agricultural insurance to a viable scale while improving the resilience of smallholder farmers through the provision of high-value agriculture insurance products.

The webinar was part of the series of regional learning, knowledge sharing, and networking sessions aimed at contributing to the development of inclusive insurance markets in Africa.
